Join the Friends of the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge for a photographic workshop and field excursion with award-winning and published photographer and Friends’ Board member, Beth Huning.
Take your photography to the next level and depart with creative images that capture the essence of the San Pablo Bay NWR.
On-line workshop with Q&A, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, 7-8:15 pm. An interactive assessment about what makes a good photograph and how to take your imagery from good to creative and inspirational.• Learn the basic “rules” of photography and how and when to break them to turn the mundane into spectacular.• Discover how light can impact a photograph and create drama just by making subtle adjustments.
Field Experience at San Pablo Bay NWR, Sunday, February 16, 3-6 pm. Start with gear share, assessment, and discuss tools of the trade and when to use them.• Head out into the Refuge for a photographic field immersion with personalized guidance to apply concepts discussed in on-line workshop.•. Create inspirational images of the Refuge and its wildlife inhabitants. Depending on participants’ experience levels, some birds in flight techniques may be introduced.
Instructor: Beth is an award-winning nature and travel photographer, immediate Past-President of the North American Nature Photography Association and member of the Advisory Board of the American Society of Media Photographers. Her photographic and teaching experience as well as her intimate knowledge of the Refuge will help participants capture beautiful photographs of the Refuge, its wildlife, and elevate the quality of attendees’ images from mundane to inspirational. Requirements: This is not a technical workshop on how to use your camera gear; a basic working knowledge of your equipment is required.
